Big left-arm quick Spencer Johnson is a powerful paceman with plenty of potential. Earmarked from a young age after joining the Emerging Redbacks squad in 2015, injuries cruelled the first few years of Johnson’s career and he only played a handful of One Day Cup matches after his List-A debut in 2017. It wasn’t until the 2022/23 season that Johnson’s body finally came right and he quickly announced himself. His Sheffield Shield came in February and he took 6-87 on debut and a haul of 7-47 the following match. He was rewarded with his performances by earning selection in the Australia A tour of New Zealand in April 2023 and he took a four-wicket haul against the Kiwis. Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Johnson re-signed with the West End Redbacks for a further three seasons.
